Tempered Safety Glass

Our sneeze guards and partitions are built with Safety Tempered Glass. The typical process for making Safety Tempered Glass is to start with regular annealed glass, and run it through a tempering oven which heats it up to about 1200 degrees and then quenches the glass with cool air. The air hardens the outside of the glass quickly. The inside core cools more slowly, but with the outside fixed internal stresses buildup inside the glass as the center core area shrinks as it cools. These internal stresses are what makes the tempered glass stronger, and make it safety glass. Safety glass can break, but if it does break it will break into small pieces instantly. You can still get cut with safety glass, but the injuries are typically minor. Always wear safety glasses when working with any kind of glass. Once glass is made into safety glass it is not possible to cut or drill holes without causing the glass to explode.

There is a small permanent logo is etched into each piece of safety glass identifying it as safety glass. Most building departments require and will look for the tempering logos during a site inspection.
